Allen Dale Scholes, age 59 of Akron, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer. Allen was surrounded by the ones he loved the most in his final days.
Allen was born on December 29, 1964, in Council Grove, Kansas to William Rex Scholes and Barbara (Thompson) Scholes.
Allen married Bobbi Fassler, to whom two daughters, Kaci and Kodi Scholes, were born. He later married Karen Starlin, to whom three daughters, Emily, Abby, and Rachel, were born.
Allen dedicated his life to his family and his beloved community. He celebrated 36 years serving the town of Akron and those who call it home, just as he did. Most of those years were spent making the cemetery what it is today, a beautiful resting place for our loved ones. Allen was a devoted volunteer fireman for over 20 years. When not providing for his community, you could always find him in one of three places, the lake with his family, his shop working on his cars, or his front yard greeting everyone with a smile and a wave. Anyone lucky enough to have shared a meal with Allen knows that he showed his love through his passion for cooking and sharing with others.
Allen will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Allen was preceded in death by his parents, Billy and Barbara as well as his stepfather Dan Potter, and stepmother Beulah Scholes. His beloved son Andy, brothers Billy and Donny Potter, and son-in-law Dustin Daily.
Allen is survived by his five daughters, Kaci, Kodi, Emily, Abby, and Rachel, and his nine grandchildren, Katie, Karson, Hagen, Kyli, Matthew, Tyslee, Kingston, Coy, and Tyler. He is also survived by his sister Leslie, nieces, nephews, and countless friends who have become family over the years.
A memorial service will be held Monday, December 23, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Washington County Event Center.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Town of Akron to be used towards future cemetery projects.
