Obituary

Andy Herman moved on from this world the morning of February 20 th at his home in Sterling, Colorado. He left behind his loving wife and best friend, Robie, his beloved dog, Charlie, and many family members and friends.

Andrew Martin Herman was born November 21, 1959 in Yuma, Colorado to Donna and Stan Herman and was the oldest of four children. He was the ornery big brother to sisters, Julie (Roger) Herman-Estreich and Loree (Jay) Smith, and brother James (Denise) Herman.

As he grew up in Yuma, Andy was involved in 4-H, gymkhanas, junior rodeo and FFA. During his high school years, he participated in football and wrestling (a 2-year state qualifier). Andy also competed in Colorado high school rodeos, winning an all-around saddle his senior year and qualifying for the Colorado State High School Rodeo finals.

Andy's love for the sport of rodeo carried on into his college years, receiving a rodeo scholarship to Casper College in Wyoming. He also attended Colorado Mountain College and the University of Northern Colorado. During this time, he obtained his Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association permit and team roped with his Dad, Stan, in several rodeos across the state. Andy also traveled the world. He took great pride in his bicycle ride from Greece to Germany.

Throughout his adult years, Andy worked for the family ranch, drove a truck and worked in construction. He loved the mountains, hunting, searching for arrowheads, and taking walks by the river with his wife and dog. Andy found his passion in construction and continued to work in this field for the rest of his life.

Andy married the love of his life, Robie Hisam, in a summer garden wedding in 2013. The two were inseparable and shared many great adventures together.

Andy will be deeply missed by his family and friends. A celebration of his life is being planned for the summer months. The family looks forward to sharing fun and crazy stories of Andy's extraordinary life.  Memorial donations may be made to his wife, Robie Hisam-Herman to help with expenses.  Checks may be mailed to Bowin Funeral Home at PO Box 576 Akron, CO 80720 or to Robie Hisam-Herman at 304 Park St. Sterling, CO 80751.
