Obituary

Angela Day, 64 of Akron, Colorado, Beloved Mother, Nana, Daughter, Sister, Auntie, and Friend passed away peacefully surrounded by those that loved her on December 8, 2025.  Her gentle spirit, kindness, love and sense of humor will forever remain in our hearts. Her smile and the sound of her laughter will forever be in our memories. Angie was born in Norwich, England on January 16, 1961, to Maureen (Simmonds) Martinez and Carlos Martinez. She was raised in Rocky Ford, Colorado where she graduated with the class of 1979. She would later move, get married and raise a family settling in Moab, UT. If you were to ask Angie what her greatest accomplishment was, she most definitely would say her faith and her family. She is the proud momma of Anna (Roger) Madrid of Akron, Colorado and Michael (Katherina) Day of Salt Lake City, Utah. Her Grandchildren Tyson Day, Angel Contreras, Lori Day, Kaylei Burton, Roger Madrid JR, Alyssa Burton, Kenna Madrid, Leela Day, Frank Day and Patrick Day. They all, and many of their friends brought her so much joy and laughter. She would happily join in on all their silly antics and activities. Angie was a kid at heart, and she loved them all dearly.

Along with her children and grandchildren Angie is survived by her Father Carlos Martinez, Sister Carlene Martinez, Brother John Martinez of Rio Rancho, NM and Sister Lisa (Troy) Miller of Las Animas, CO. Numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her former husband Melvin (Shorty) Day, Mother Maureen Martinez, and Sister-in-law Lisa Martinez.

A Celebration of Life will take place in Moab, UT on May 16, 2026, at the Old City Park at 3 pm.
