Betty Jo Dolifka was born on December 23 rd 1937 in St. Francis, Kansas. She passed away peacefully in the presence of her family on May 1 st 2018 in Brush, Colorado. Betty was brought up in this world by her mother Mary (Ross) Confer and her father Ernst Confer. Betty moved with her family to a farm northwest of Anton when she was in the third grade. She attended school at Fairview and Lindon. In high school Betty enjoyed many activities including cheerleading and playing the piano. She graduated from Lindon High School in 1957 and also later that same summer on June 9 th married Loy Dolifka of Thurman. Loy and Betty moved to a farm south of Anton where they began their married life together which included raising two children and many school activities. Her interests included board games with grandkids, driving the tractor, pinochle club, golfing, bowling and one of her favorite things was the many bowling trips that she was able to take with her girlfriends.
One of Betty's happiest days was when she and Loy were honored as the Grand Marshalls of the Washington County Fair. Betty enjoyed being a fan of high school sports her entire life. In 2015 she & Loy received the YWKC Fan Appreciation award. She loved supporting her children in all their activities that they were involved in. When her children were grown there were many trips to Greeley to watch the grandkids' sporting events, which resulted in more than one late night trip home in a blizzard.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents Ernie and Mary Confer, her sister Alverna Garner, her brother Marvin Confer, and nephew Dewayne Dalrymple. She is survived by husband Loy Dolifka, children Joy Dolifka and Troy Dolifka and wife Brinna, grandchildren Brady and Brittany Dolifka, Levi and Taylor Dolifka, Alex and Spencer Shapiro, brother Larry and wife Jan Confer, and Melvin and wife Pat Confer.
As cancer was continuing to win the battle, Betty knew that she would not let it win the war. As the cancer treatment options were running out she was faced with a dilemma of giving up or trying one more new treatment. While giving up would have been the easiest route, she said it might not help me, but it just might help someone else.
