Betty Jane Scarbrough went to be with the Lord at the age of 85 at the Washington County Nursing Home on January 8, 2011. She was born April 3, 1925 at her parent's homestead 13 miles southeast of Akron.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gale and Grace Scarbrough, brothers Gene and his wife Zenardys, Wayne and his wife Winifred, a sister Eula Noack and her husband Oscar. She is survived by a brother Lenos and his wife Mary Ann of Longmont, CO. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

She was a member of the Akron Assembly of God Church and had a deep faith in Jesus Christ.
In her younger years, Betty enjoyed working with children, working puzzles and playing games.

She never married and lived with her parents till they passed away. She lived in the Pioneer Haven Apartments in Akron until her health conditions required her to move into the Washington County Nursing Home. She had lived there for the last eleven years, all the while receiving excellent care from the staff.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, January 13, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at the Akron Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Washington County Nursing Home. Brenner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
