Bonnie Lou (Booth) Palser was born to Irwin Ellis and Gladys Marie (Roth) Booth in Wellman, IA, on June 4, 1942. She was the third of six children. Bonnie lost her battle with cancer on February 17, 2021, at her home in Otis, with her family at her bedside.
The Booth family moved to Chappell, NE, when Bonnie was a toddler. She attended grade school and high school in the Chappell school system and graduated in 1960.
Following graduation, Bonnie worked as a telephone operator in Sidney, NE. During that time, she spent many late-night hours talking with Robert Palser, a young man she had met through church activities. This early "online dating" relationship eventually led to their marriage on August 28, 1962, at the Assembly of God Church in Chappell. The couple resided and farmed in the Big Springs area. To them were born three sons: Jerry, Leonard, and Rodney.
In 1982, the family moved their farm operation to Otis, CO. Their three sons all worked on the farm, eventually marrying and each blessing Bonnie and Robert with a grandchild. "Grandma" became her favorite name.
Her life was rocked in June of 1995 when Robert unexpectedly passed away from complications of cancer at an early age. It was a difficult transition to live without the love of her life. The family pulled together and continued to operate the farm. She was very proud of the ability to keep the farm going with her sons and their families. Bonnie stayed fully involved in the farming process serving as the bookkeeper, cooking meals, helping move the guys from field to field, and being involved with decision-making. During the adjustment time, three more grandsons joined the family. Grandma dearly loved each and every one of her six grandchildren!
Over the years, Bonnie enjoyed various activities with family. She loved traveling with her sisters or children on trips, attending Southern gospel concerts, going to Branson, vacationing at Lake McConaughy, and especially watching the grandkids' sporting and school events. She was extremely proud that she missed very, very few of them. Harvests were a special time; she took every opportunity she could to ride in the combines and swathers. Her involvement with her church family and community was important to her. For her, sending cards with beautifully hand-written messages for all types of occasions was just another way of caring about people. Bonnie had a huge heart for anyone in need.
Bonnie loved people, especially her sons, daughters-in-law, and grandkids. She was privileged to attend the weddings of both granddaughters and gladly welcomed her first great-granddaughter.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, Irwin and Gladys Booth, her husband Robert Palser, brother Bill Booth, sisters Carolyn Dye and Janice (Gerald) McGowan, infant sister Mary Ann Booth, and brother-in-law Harvey Jencks.
Bonnie is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law: Jerry and Vicki, Leonard and Dena, and Rodney and Gina, grandchildren: Jaci (Layne) Henry, Elijah Palser, Wyatt Palser, Reid Palser, Emily (Schyler) Hellmann, and Drew Palser, great-granddaughter Jozi Henry, sister Gwen Jencks, in-laws: Dean Dye, Joyce Booth, David (Carolyn) Palser, Helen Palser, and a multitude of nieces and nephews.
