Carolyn D. Ewertz, 93 years old, of Byers, Colorado & formerly of Yuma, Colorado, passed away Friday, October 16th, 2026 in Brighton, Colorado.

She was born September 3rd, 1933 in Brighton, Colorado to Carl and Wynetta Krause. She helped keep the family farm going until she married Michael Ewertz Jr. on August 24th, 1952 in Brighton, Colorado.

Carolyn enjoyed sewing, making quilts and blankets for her children, grandchildren and friends. During the Springs and Summers, her time was spent growing a spectacular garden with her husband that created a tall maze of corn stalks, sunflowers, red potatoes, radishes and carrots for everyone to enjoy.

Carolyn worked as a school cook in Yuma for over 20 years until she retired in early 1995. Her baking skills extended beyond the school cafeteria. When anyone visited her home, you would be greeted with a wide variety of homemade goods that you could smell, prior to entering.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; Carl and Wynetta Krause, husband; Michael J Ewertz Jr., and son; Christopher Allen Ewertz.

She is survived by two sons; Michael Ewertz III and wife Kathy of Byers, Colorado and David Ewertz of Hudson, Colorado, two daughters; Patricia Sweet and husband Russell of Louden, Tennessee and Ilene Dreier and husband Kent of Cedaredge, Colorado and 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

A private family graveside service was held on Saturday, October 24, 2026 at the Akron Cemetery.
