David Cleland Frink was born in Yuma, Colorado, on February 3rd, 1969, to Harold Cleland Frink Jr. and Catherine Francis (Curry) Frink. David passed away on August 28, 2026, in his home in Yuma. He grew up in Kearney, Nebraska, until his mother died from cancer. The family then moved to Akron, Colorado, where David made many friends while attending school there. The family later moved to Nebraska during his high school years, and he graduated from Shickley High School in 1988.
David married Traci Scheimann in 1990 and shortly after welcomed his one and only child, Katherine, whom he named after his late mother. David later graduated from Central Community College with an associate's degree in applied science and pursued a career in dental lab work while also opening his own auto body shop, Frink Auto Repair. After living in Kearney, Katherine and David moved to Colorado. David worked many odd jobs and was a great handyman who could fix just about anything. Around this same time, he began working in the satellite business and continued for several years, becoming known as Dave the Dish Man.
David had a great sense of humor and enjoyed making people laugh. He was also known to be a bit of a character and a prankster. Those who knew him well often enjoyed his storytelling, as he could command the attention of an entire room. David was also known as the kind of guy who would do just about anything for someone in need, without worrying about a favor in return or compensation. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and often visited and was there for people facing life's struggles.
David was a loving Father, Grandfather, Brother, and Friend. David loved playing football and soccer, playing catch with his grandsons Cooper, Tucker, and Carter, and watching them at various sporting events. When he wasn't busy spending time with his grandkids and working, he spent his leisure time riding his Harley, going to Sturgis, playing horseshoes, and working on vehicles.
He is survived by his daughter Katherine and four grandchildren, Cooper, Tucker, Carter, and Wrenlee; siblings Mary Beth Reehl, Marsha Hemmingsen, and Doug Frink; brothers Jeremy Frink (Jessica) and Jeffrey Frink (Laura); cousins Bobbi and Brian Christensen; step-sister Wendy Ripp (Mark); step-brother Jerred Hurley (Ashly); brother-in-law Glen Vick; Aunt Cheryl Severin; and many nieces and nephews.
David is preceded in death by his parents, Harold Frink Jr. and Catherine Frink; his grandparents, Harold Frink Sr. and Genevieve Frink, and WR and Lela Curry; his aunt and uncle, Bob and Wilma McHugh; and his sister, Teresa Vick.
A memorial service will be held Friday, September 4th, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Foursquare Church in Akron, Colorado. Memorial donations may be made to his daughter Katherine Coughlin to help with expenses.
