Donald Roy Hale Born January 9, 1932, age 84 has passed away at the home
of his care taker, July 6th 2016. His parents Roy Hubert Hale and Ruth Hale, as well as brother Bill Hale proceeded him in death. He passed away peacefully in his sleep after returning home from a
mornings stay in the Brush hospital.
Don loved life and had lots of stories to tell. He left home at the young age of 14 and came to Otis Colorado from Watonga, Oklahoma. He was hired by Lloyd Lane. He had told Lloyd he was 18 but Lloyd did not take long to figure out he was not 18. He was a big tall kids and fast on his feet. He ran everywhere he went. Lloyd decided to keep him on. And his wife Nellie decided Don needed to
go to school. And Don Said no, I do not like school. So she proceeded to get the books and teach him herself. He was a good learner and a good worker. He spent 3 years with Lanes on the Holland Ranch and
then joined the army. Serving at Fort Carson as a cook. Advancing to Master Sergeant chef. After his service to his country he went to Libya to work on seismograph for Humble Oil company for 5 years.
Up on getting out he toured Parts of Italy, Germany and other countries. He had made up his mind to be a cowboy when a small boy and now took the leap so to speak. He ended up in western Colorado. He bought small farm and took some cattle and horses. Doing some cowboy stuff for the neighbors.
He had married a young lady who was a nurse in Albuquerque with 4 children. So they bought a place in Delta Co. Don went to work for the Sale barn in Brush and was a ring man for 25 years and loved every minute of it. He lost his wife Nita in 2012.
He had a childhood friend who was able to become his Caretaker as he had Parkinson's. They spent 2 years together renewing old friend ships and doing just nothing.
Don will be missed by his care taker and her families. Such a kind
gentle man for sure. He will be sorely missed.
God Bless and Keep you.
