Obituary

Donna Fern Weickum died March 9, 2015, at the Washington County Nursing Home in Akron, Colorado. She was born July 15, 1926, on her grandparent's farm north of Otis, Colorado. She was the eldest child of Gerold Milton and Neva Fern (Farris) Pixler.

She spent most of her life in northeast Colorado, having spent time in Akron, Otis, Sterling and Yuma. She worked as a receptionist for Doctors Good and Pearse in Yuma for 20 years; another 10 years in Sterling helping raise her grandchildren.

Donna was an avid reader, sometimes reading 5 or 6 books a week. She also enjoyed her crafts, whether it was making sweatshirts for someone or refinishing a piece of furniture. In the middle of her sweatshirt phase you could not visit her without coming away without glitter somewhere on your person.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Sheryl Sickendick, infant son Larry Hathaway, brothers William "Bud", Dennis and Jack Pixler, sisters-in-law Faye and Doreen Pixler.

She is survived by her son Gary Hathaway (Terry) of Loveland; grandson Griff Sickendick (Joleen) of Byers; granddaughter Gia Sickendick of Otis; adored great-grandchildren Tristan Modrell, Gillian and Gage Sickendick; sister Jerry Brewer of Longview, Texas; brother Robert Pixler of Sun Lakes, Arizona; sister-in-law Irene Wakefield, of Kiowa; aunt Ila Vick of Brush; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held Monday, March 23, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Otis Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Washington County Nursing Home Memorial Fund.
