Edyth L. Van Matre (age 93) of Riverside, California died May 11, 2022 from Alzheimer's disease.

Edyth was born on January 6, 1929 at home near Akron, Colorado to Jesse and Cora Lockard. She spent her youth on her parent's farm and graduated from Akron High School in 1947.  Edyth married Robert (Bob) Van Matre in January of 1949.  They had a son Roger in May 1950.  The family moved to southern California in 1960.  Edyth was a foster mother to many children in the 1960s.  They adopted Robert in February 1966.

Edyth is survived by her brother Edward, sons Roger (wife Chris) and Robert, two grandchildren, four great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and sisters.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 21, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Otis Presbyterian Church.  Interment will follow at the Otis Cemetery.
