Georgina Mae was born in Dorrance, KS on February 7, 1926.  She was the fourth of six children born to Joseph and Mary (Malek) Kejr.

After graduating from High School in Dorrance KS, she attended the Omaha Bible Institute and studied nursing. She was not able to complete her cherished nursing degree but had a natural gift for healing.

Georgina was a master seamstress and could sew anything to which she put her mind. She also made "Lover's Knot" quilts for each of her children and grandchildren.  When it came to sewing, mending was her favorite thing to do.

Georgina was deeply committed to the Lord and served where there was a need. Some of her mission works included making baby quilts for her sister Helen to give to babies in her church. She also started sewing baby towels with hoods and chair safety seats and gave them to young mothers in a care tote.

Georgina enjoyed helping with Awanas and keeping the church records. She was very generous and gave what she could where she saw the need.

Georgina loved going to O'Dells Grocery Store every day for her morning coffee and donuts, as well as Taco Tuesday. She enjoyed going to "Meet and Greet" to work with and visit her friends there.

On February 1, 1948 Georgina married Merlin Bates in Wilson, KS.

To this union seven children were born. They farmed in Orchard, CO;

Smith Center, KS.; Woodrow, CO.; Brule and Big Springs, NE.

Georgina was preceded in death by her husband Merlin Bates of 34 years, her daughter Ruth Bates, and grandson Jeff Benda, all of her sisters, brothers, and their spouses; Frank (Helen) Kejr, Harry (Rosella) Kejr, Helen (Charles) Aregood, Mary Lou (Fred) Lorenz, Marjorie Ruark.

Georgina is survived by her children Danny and Randy Bates of Akron, CO; Gina (Rick) Benda of Alliance, NE; Lana (Kyle) Kammerer of Grant, NE; Annette (John) Cato of Des Moines, IA; Cindy (Doug) Delp of North Platte, NE
