Gilbert Eugene (Gene) Masters, 86, of Anton passed away on December 3, 2023.  Gene was born on April 25, 1937, to Gilbert and Eunice Masters, the 1st of 2 children.  Eunice later married Earl Slusser and they were blessed with 3 more children.

He graduated from Lindon High School in 1955 where he enjoyed playing basketball.

Gene married Valerie (Wood) Dennis on April 28,1973 and adopted her two children Stacey and Steven Masters.

Gene worked in the oilfield for many years and was a production foreman for Union Texas as well as owned and operated his own pumping service.  He later drove a semi-truck and finished his career pumping oil wells until his retirement.

Gene loved animals and enjoyed caring for many including a monkey, llamas, donkeys, horses, an ostrich, peacocks, and goats as well as his beloved dogs Cassie, Buster, and Wiley.

Gene was preceded in death by his brother Richard and his mother Eunice.

He is survived by his wife Valerie, his daughter Stacey Masters, and son Steven (Michele) Masters; 5 grandchildren;3 great-grandchildren; brothers Harry and Rob Slusser and sister Viola Danner; sister-in-law Debbie Strauch.

A private family service will be planned at a future date.
