James (Jim Bob) McCurdy

James Robert McCurdy, known to childhood friends as Jim Bob and to his California friends as Big Jim and to his son Zach, as simply dad, died on the 10th of May at his home in San Diego, CA, at the age of 36. He was born January 4, 1975, in Denver, CO to John and Jamie McCurdy.
Jim had many accomplishments in his life which included belonging to Boy Scout Troop 35 where he received his Eagle Scout ranking at the age of fourteen. He especially enjoyed scouting activities such as spending time at Ben Delatour Scout Ranch, and going on canoeing trips with his scout mates.
He attended Akron schools until moving to Sterling where he graduated in 1993. In August of 1993, Jim joined the Navy completing his basic training in Orlando, FL. He earned a rating as an Electronics Technician. He worked in the electronics industry until going back to college in 2006. Jim had recently completed his undergraduate degree at San Diego State University, where he would have graduated with honors the end of May.
In 1994, Jim's biggest accomplishment was the birth of his son, Zach, of whom he was very proud.
Jim was preceded in death by his older brother J.C. McCurdy, his maternal grandparents, Daisy and Willie Price, and his paternal grandparents, Margaret and Jack McCurdy. He is survived by his parents, Jamie and John McCurdy, and son, Zach Buhler, all of Akron. He is also survived by his maternal uncles, Ed (Maureen) Price of Centennial, CO, Gary Price of Red Wing, MN, and Jeff Price of Schlater, MS, and his Aunt Cindy Price of Centennial, CO, as well as, his paternal Uncle Guy (Pam) McCurdy of Casper, WY, and aunts Janet (Ken) Pichlmaier of Bairoil, WY, and Jackie Dull of Casper, WY and by many cousins and friends.
