Obituary

Janet Lynn (Pattavina) O'Halloran passed away peacefully in her home on the morning of 10 June 2023. Janet and her twin sister, Joan were the youngest of five siblings born to William Sebastian Pattavina, an Omaha Police Sergeant, and Gladys Maxine (Drake) Pattavina.

Janet was born on 12 October 1956 in Omaha. Janet's mother, Maxine, as she was known, died when Janet was very young, and her step-mother, Loretta married William and helped raise the large family.

Janet and her parents moved to Aurora, Colorado in the early 1970s. She attended Arapahoe Community College in Littleton where she earned an Associate Degree in Applied Science – Law Enforcement. While there, she met her future husband, Gerard (Jerry) Daniel O'Halloran.

Janet and Jerry were married on 28 July 1979 in Aurora. Janet worked in the private security field until 1985 when she had her first child, Brian. She then became a full-time mother to Brian and the two sons that followed, Sean and Michael, as well as the other children in the neighborhood who spent time at their home. Janet helped her boys with the various animals they brought home, and supported them in their sporting interests as a team mom for their baseball team.

As her children had their own children, not only was she a devoted mother, she became a devoted grandmother, sometimes insisting that Jerry take more vacation time to visit the grandkids.

Janet is survived by her husband, Jerry; her sons, Brian and his wife, Abby, of Braddyville, Iowa; Sean and his wife, Lindsey, of Severence, Colorado;  and Michael of Evans, Colorado. She is also survived by her grandchildren Ava, Dante, Molly, Zane, Lucas, Conner, and Owen. Janet is also survived by her brother, Chris Pattavina and his wife, Vicki; and her sisters, Norma and Francie Pattavina, all of Omaha, Nebraska.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents, William and Gladys Pattavina, step-mother, Loretta Pattavina; and sisters Ann Gill and Joan Rothwell.
