Jo Ann Hershey, 68, of Akron, CO passed away, June 27, 2021, at her home.  She was born to parents Henry and Twyla Zollars Blake, June 21, 1953 in Brush, CO. Jo was born to a large family of 14 children.  She was the fourth oldest but the first girl. Her surviving siblings include Larry, Gary, Steve, Jeanie, Stanley, Jackie, Jerry, Rodney, Sky, Jett, Kevin, and Jayna.  Greeting her in heaven is her sister Nancy.

Jo Ann graduated from Woodlin High School in 1971. She was married to Brent Hershey on July 29, 1972. This marriage was blessed with two sons, Cy and Coy Hershey. And, grandchildren, Sky and Rowan Hershey.

Jo will be remembered for her upbeat attitude, her corny jokes, and her dedication and respect for the elderly in the community.  She could see the beauty in any rock or piece of wood and displayed them proudly in her little eclectic front yard.  She didn't know a stranger and was friendly to everyone she came across.  Jo was proud of her upbringing and often wondered "what the new generation had come to." She will be greatly missed by many relatives, friends, and community members.

Graveside services will be held Monday, July 5, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at the Akron Cemetery.  Memorial donations may be made to the Washington County Nursing Home.
