John Kenneth Lamb, 86, passed into peace on Friday, April 15, 2011 in the Northern Colorado Medical Center-Hospice, Greeley, CO surrounded by family.
A celebration of his life will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Akron, Colorado, with burial at the St. Joseph Cemetery. Brenner Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
John was born on Oct. 16, 1924, to Gertrude and Preston Lamb in Dawson Springs, Kentucky and had three brothers. They moved to Colorado in the early 30s, where the family was raised. John attended Arvada high school in Arvada, CO, and then he joined the Army Air Corp, served in the World War II and then returned to Denver, CO to work at the Colorado State Patrol.
In Denver, John met the love of her life, Evelyn "Evie" Kopetzky and were married for 61 years until Evie's passing in 2009. They were married on Oct. 25, 1947 in Dalton, Nebraska, and then moved into their home in Denver, Colorado where they started their family. John and Evie had two sons, David (1949) and Daniel (1951), and adopted their daughter Denise in 1964.
Driven by a passion for the outdoors and fishing, John and Evie moved to Missoula, Montana in 1971. While in Missoula, they also continued to build their successful Amway business. In 2006, after many years in Missoula, they moved back to Colorado to be close to their son, Dan.
John was a great man, friend to many, but most importantly a wonderful and passionate father and grandfather. He touched many lives, always with a hug, a bright smile or one-liner and will be missed by all those that knew him.
John is survived by daughter, Denise Lamb-Person of Montana, and sons, Dan Lamb of Colorado and Dave Lamb of Nebraska; grandchildren, Brent Person, Logan Person, Brett Lamb, Jeremy Lamb, Damian Lamb and Darin Lamb and many nieces and nephews.
