Hello, my name is John Patrick Schoenecker. I was born on March 1, 1932 in Colwich, KS to Hubert & Mary Schoenecker. I spent most my youth running around the farm and learning all I could.
Upon graduation I entered the Army and served as a mechanic in the Korean war. I was honorably discharged and returned to the Wichita, KS area. It was upon my return when I pursued my beautiful bride Judith Dugan. We were married on October 20, 1956. We moved to Akron, CO on March 20, 1957 to pursue a farming career. Together we had three children Timothy Schoenecker, Lori Schoenecker, and Julie Schoenecker. Through marriage, Timothy provided two grandchildren, Damon and Morgan Dischner. Lori married Gary Barkey and blessed us with Kathryn and JD. Julie married Mark Bradney and blessed us with twins Colin and Emerald Bradney.
I ventured in to entrepreneurship and opened my repair shop, Schoenecker Repair. I then purchased the original Akron Coop and moved my repair shop to town and that evolved into East Side Implement in 1974. I also built the RV park in Akron, CO. During our younger years, I flew airplanes and would assist other business owners in town by flying them to other cities to bring goods to Akron, CO.
When I wasn't busy with my businesses or farming, Judy and I loved travelling and we excelled in trap shooting. Many memories and great friendships were formed as we traveled around Kansas, Colorado, Arizona, Missouri, Nebraska and Utah. Judy and I were also quite the duo, I'd play guitar and she'd sing.
I was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and served as Grand Knight and Commander. I proudly served these rolls and continued to be a part of the memorial services.
In retirement I purchased my dream car, a 1930 Model A and joined the Old Car Club of Akron. Every summer you'd find me driving my car thru the local parade.
Preceding me to heaven were my parents, my brothers Ray and Hubert, and my sisters Theresa (Blasi) and Madeline (Weninger) and grandson Colin Bradney. I leave behind my cherished wife Judy of 64 years, my children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. My final request is that you not worry about me. I'm in heaven basking in God's love and looking forward to you joining me there.
