Obituary

Kenneth "Ken" Arthur Canfield, 64, was born to Anna Louise Canfield (Isbrandtsen) and Arthur James Canfield on December 25 th , 1957 in Grand Island, Nebraska.  He lost a very challenging and painful battle with cancer on January 5 th , 2022 at Yuma District Hospital in Yuma, Colorado.

Ken grew up in Grand Island with his siblings, Kathy and Gordon.  He and Gordon were quite the fierce duo and everywhere they went, people knew they were coming.  They were also protective younger brothers for Kathy.  Even living miles apart, they remained best friends throughout their adulthood.  On December 17 th , 1977, when Ken was 19, he married the love of his life, Lucinda Lea Lucas.  They continued to love and honor each other in the best and worst of times.

Ken began his working career when he became a hot tar roofer for Weathercraft in Grand Island.  He then worked at Monfort, a meatpacking plant in Grand Island and would later relocate to Excel Meatpacking in Fort Morgan, Colorado.  While working at Excel he was promoted to Supervisor.  Lucinda worked there as well and at one point was fired by Ken for refusing to count leakers.  What wasn't very humorous then, has become a pretty funny story now.  Later in life, Ken went to school and attained his CDL and was employed by Allen Mitcheck for 24 years, driving truck.  In 2018, he was employed with K&B trucking as an over the road truck driver until 2020, when the cancer was discovered.

Ken enjoyed hunting and was an avid fisherman.  His favorite vacations were packing up the car, heading to the mountains, and camping for several days.  He thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors.  He worked hard to never miss a Nebraska Cornhusker game and supported the Denver Broncos as well.  Ken was definitely known by his wild sense of humor and the way he could make light of even the heaviest of situations.

Ken was preceded in death by his oldest son, Kenneth "Kenny" Canfield (2005); mother Anna Louise Canfield (2005); and father Arthur James Canfield (2005).  He leaves behind his precious wife Lucinda of Otis, CO; son Shawn and his wife Jessica of Port Mansfield, TX; daughter Amber Wade and her husband Tom of Yuma, CO; sister Kathleen of Grand Island, NE; brother Gordon and his wife Maletta of Grand Island, NE.  He also leaves behind 7 grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, extended relatives, and friends.  He was loved by many and will be surely missed.
