Loretta Ione (Dutton) Ford, 88 of Castle Rock, Colorado passed away on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at the Solange Memory Care at Eveningsong. Loretta was born on the family homestead northwest of Cope in Washington County on May 16, 1934, the youngest of nine children born to Oda Williams and Bessie Ann (O'Conner) Dutton.
Loretta attended a small country school near Cope. Later she attended music school and secretarial school in Denver. While in Denver, she worked for the Federal Government at the Federal Center.
She was united in marriage to Robert "Bob" Eugene Ford on March 20, 1953 in Raton, New Mexico. To this union, 3 children were born: Lorie Jean, Gerald Glenn, and Kenneth Eugene. Loretta and Bob first started their family in Denver, before later moving the family to Indian Hills, CO. They enjoyed camping and fishing with their children. They also enjoyed coming back to the family homestead to visit her parents and siblings. Bob unexpectedly passed away on June 23, 1979. They were married for 26 years.
After Bob's death, Loretta married long-time friend, Joe Coet, and they remained together until her passing.
Loretta's mother taught her to play the piano by singing to her, when she was only 3 years old. That was a skill that Loretta held on to her entire life. She was always grateful for that God-given talent. She loved to crochet. She also loved baking cooking and pizzelles for her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oda and Bessie Dutton; her husband Bob; siblings Wanda, Odie, Iva, Dwight, Sadie, Opal, Ulala, and Irene; grandson Robby Ford; and great-great-granddaughter Cooper Angel.
She is survived by her daughter Lorie (Bill) Umpleby, sons Jerry (Kathie) Ford and Ken Ford; grandchildren Jodie Avery-Kohn and her husband Mark Kohn, Jon (Erin) Ford, Amanda (Yon) Nunez, Julie Ford, and Krystal Ford; great-grandchildren Ashlie Schultz, Tristin Schultz and fiancé Amanda, Austin (Madeleine) Schultz, Colin Avery, Isabelle Ford, and Wyatt Ford; and great-great-grandchildren Jemma Liggins, Leia Liggins, Maya Liggins, and Oliver Schultz.
