Obituary

Lukus Walczyk was born on March 11 th , 1928 the fifth son and sixth child, out of twelve, born to Paul Francis and Klara Margaret (Bartsch)-Walczyk.  He was born on the old Bert Justice place North of Lindon, Colorado.  At age 6 he contracted whooping cough, and were it not for his parents fighting for his life may have succumbed to it.  But God had other plans.  Lukus lived with his parents throughout most of his life and helped to farm and ranch with them.  Later he would help to take care of them in their old age.  After his parents passed on Lukus took over the family land and place where he had lived and worked, his whole life, until two weeks before his own passing.

Lukus never graduated from high school instead he chose to help farm and ranch with his parents and younger siblings.  He never thought of himself as a smart man since "I had to quit school in the 9 th grade because I never could remember what I read".  But the improvements he made to the farm and his willingness to add to the land, through the years, speak otherwise.  Lukus was a very wise, kind, quiet, caring and fun man who would give you a grin and sideways look, with a twinkle in his eye that showed his love of a good joke and his love for life.

Lukus was called for draft into the Army at age 18, but was rejected due to a heart murmur.  But he loved America and this countryside itself very much.  Having never married Lukus did not have any children of his own but, was known by his nieces and nephews as "the greatest Uncle ever."

Lukus went home, to be with his Lord, on Thursday, September 13 th , 2018 while residing at Eben Ezer Care Center in Brush, Colorado.  He had lived there only two weeks, before his battle with cancer and dementia took him.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Klara Walczyk; two brothers Anton Frank and his wife (Ethel); Sylvester Alfred and his wife (Beulah); and two sisters Clara Pauline Walczyk-Lowman and her husband (Melvin); and Mary Anna Walczyk-Green.  Lukus is survived by 4 brothers, Emil Sylvester, and his wife (Freda-deceased) of Nevada, Paul Francis Jr. and his wife (Nadine) of Nebraska; Frank William and his wife (Jane-deceased) of Alaska and Herman Ben and his wife (Jackie) of Colorado along with three sisters Sister Angeline Bertha Walczyk of Indiana; Pauline Lydia Walczyk-Frenzl and her husband (Frank) of Colorado; and Cecelia Esther Walczyk-Kalous and her husband (George) of Colorado.  Lukus has many nieces and nephews along with neighbors and friends who will remember him fondly.
