Obituary

Marlene Elizabeth Thompson was born August 18th 1940, in Minnesota to Hilbert and Irene Richards. In loving memory, she went home to be with her heavenly father on Tuesday, December 8th 2015 at the age of 75 after an illness with cancer. She was the third of five children. Marlene moved to eastern Colorado as a child and graduated from Brush High School in 1959. Marlene then pursued a nursing career at the Swedish Medical Hospital in Denver. Marlene had a special and nuturing way of caring for the elderly. Her favorite verse was Phillipians 4:19- "But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus."
Waldo and Marlene met while attending the Brush Baptist Church. Marlene played the piano and Waldo led the singing. On February 26th 1961 she married Waldo W. Thompson. Marlene left such an impression on the elderly, they requested Marlene to stop by so they could see her in her wedding gown. Being the loving person Marlene is, the nursing home was the first place they went after their wedding . Marlene's passion for music in nursing homes continued throughout her life.
Throughout Marlene's life she stood beside her husband and family accomplishing many different business opportunities. Some of these opportunities include: custom meat processing plants and family restraunts in Otis and Akron. Marlene was very involved wraping meat, making cinnamon rolls, baking pies, preparing bread puding and whatever was needed in the restaurants. The most rewarding to Marlene was her love for the church. Marlene had her own touch on the piano that no one could mimic. While at home she would record herself on the electric piano and play along with the recording on her grand piano. On many occasions her family and others would surround her and sing while she played the piano. One of Marlene's favorite hymns included Great Is Thy Faithfullness.
Marlene's keen scense of humor was unmatchable. She was always thinking , who can I pull a prank on next from her Chinese Prayer to her just ramdomly laughing hysterically like the laughing lady at Lakeside. Her humor would always put a smile on your face or you would be watching your back waiting for the next prank. She will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts.
Survivors include her husband Waldo W. Thompson of Otis 2 daughters Pam Reser of Wray and Diana Brauer and her husband Stan of Yuma, 2 sons David Thompson and wife Holly of Otis and Matt Thompson and wife Lydia of Marshfield Missouri. Extended family 1 daughter Jennifer Barger of Akron, 2 sons John Bailey of Otis and Chris Bailey of Sterling. 28 Grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren.
Preceding her in death: parents Hilbert and Irene Richards, parents-in-law; Omar and Elsie Thompson.
