Obituary

Mary M. Rodwell passed away peacefully at the age 73, on Sunday, August 22, 2021, in Denver, CO where her family was present. She was born in Fort Morgan, Colorado on November 12, 1947. She was the daughter of late Carl Granere and late Jean Granere both of Fort Morgan, Colorado. Mary graduated from Fort Morgan High School in 1965, where a few years after graduating she met the love of her life Tom Rodwell. Tom and Mary were married on May 28, 1972. They moved to Anton, Colorado where together they raised 3 sons.

Mary was a hard-working farm wife amongst many other jobs. She loved to watch Old Western movies, Jeopardy and read. She could be the life of any get together and loved to tell jokes and make everyone laugh. She would give whole heartedly to anyone in need and gladly welcome anyone into her home. Her saying would go "First time you're a guest, after that your family." Her and Tom hosted 3 exchange students in their home. Her loving spirit touched many people's lives. Mary's proudest moments were being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She always was her children's and grandchildren's biggest fans in all their sporting events and would go to the ends of the world if need be. There was a time during an FFA trip that Shawn told her that he wished they weren't always at everything, and her reply was "We can leave but don't come crying to me when you run out of money." Later she had to borrow money from Shawn. She always supported her children's and grandchildren's life's endeavors.

Mary was an outstanding cook and could take the simplest of ingredients and make it fit for a king. One of her amazing cooking examples was when she made biscuits for our extended family during a hunting trip, and they were saying how amazing her biscuits were. They had no idea she popped them out of a can. She could make anything taste good. She also had a love for Basset Hounds.

Mary lived in Anton for 40+ years before retiring and moving to Wray. Mary will be deeply missed. Mary was preceded in death by her father and mother. Carl, and Jean Simpson Granere. Mary is survived by her husband, Tom Rodwell, her children Shawn (Tonya) Rodwell, Morgan (Dawn) Rodwell and their children and grandchildren, Mark (Naomi)(Lucia, William, Liam) Rodwell, Deveney Rodwell, and Montana Rodwell. Carl (April) Rodwell and his children and grandchild Kaylee Rodwell, Alexis Rodwell and Falon (Bryant) Rodwell all of Colorado. Siblings Jack (Carol) Granere, Ann (Don) Rehkop, Joan (Hugh) Garver.
