Milton W. Furrow was born December 30, 1926 to Thelma and Lloyd Furrow, and passed away April 16, 2011 at the age of 84 in his home with his children at his side.
Milton was a lifetime resident of the area. He attended White School until the 8th grade. After school, Milton worked various jobs for neighbors, milking cows and working in their fields. In 1948, Milton moved to Otis and worked at Gisi's Grain.
In 1949, Milton met the love of his life, Elizabeth "Betty" Harms. They married June 4, 1950 and moved to the family farm in Otis. To this union three children were born: Robert, Kathy, and Peggy. Milton and Betty enjoyed 43 years of marriage until her passing in 1993.
Milton was a devoted patron of the local coffee shops, and he loved family, farming, and ranching. He spent over 20 years of his summers following the custom harvest route starting in Oklahoma and ending in Montana. Milton farmed at the family farm for 50 years. He planted his last wheat crop in 2010. One of his favorite pastimes was riding along with Jerry Kohlman to the car auctions, and his favorite time of the year was summer, because that's when he could watch the crops grow.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; parents Thelma and Lloyd; sisters Shirley and Darlene; granddaughter Ivey Kuecke; son-in-law Larry Hynson; and in-laws Adolph and Edith Harms.
Milton is survived by his children Robert and Karen Furrow, Kathy and Kevin Guy, and Peggy Hynson; grandchildren Kim (Jason) Meier, Kandi (Victor) Perez, Missi (Allen) White, Toby (Karlyn) McCreath, Rocky (Cassandra) Jamison, Amy (Juan) Mendoza, Robbie Furrow, Holly Kuecke, Ben Ruiz, Becky Guy, and Haley Ruiz; and sixteen great-grandchildren! He is also survived by his sisters Norva, Ardith and husband Lyle, Lorna, Jan, and Joyce and husband Gene; and his brothers Bernard and wife Doris, and Dale and wife Shirley.
Graveside services will be held at the Otis Cemetery on Thursday, April 21, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Milton will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
