Obituary

Patricia Ann "Patty" Adolf was born on July 5, 1952, in Akron, Colorado. Patty was the first child of Norwood C. "Woodie" Bondhus and Elizabeth Joan Bondhus.

In 1953, Patty was received into God's covenant of grace through the sacrament of Holy Baptism at the United Methodist Church of Akron, Colorado. She was baptized with her cousins and life-long friends, Sandra Foutz Jamison and Peggy Alishouse Allen. In 1966, she confessed her faith of rite of confirmation in the Trinity Lutheran Church of Akron, Colorado, where she remained a member throughout her life.

In her high school years, she worked at Skogmos, the Bondhus family department store, located on the once thriving Main Street of Akron. In 1969, Patty was honored as the Homecoming Queen and her future husband, Darrel, was the Homecoming King. She graduated from Akron High School with the class of 1970. After high school, Patty attended business school in Colorado Springs. After completing her schooling, she returned to Akron and worked at the Y-W Electric Association.

On July 9, 1972, she was united in marriage with William Darrel Adolf at Trinity Lutheran Church. They were blessed with two children, Nathan Tyler, born on September 1, 1974, and Nicole Tay, born on March 10, 1977. While the kids were in school, she enjoyed attending Nathan's football games and wrestling matches and Nikki's volleyball and basketball games.  She was very proud of the fact that her children graduated from Akron High School, thus adding the fourth generation to the family's graduates.

In 1976, Darrel and Patty started their own store, Woodie's Men's Wear in Akron, which remained in business until 1991. After closing their store, Patty assisted Darrel in his real estate business in Akron and Greeley.  In 2002, Darrel and Patty moved to Greeley to be closer to Nikki's family.

Patty was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, having served as treasurer for many years. She was a member of Gamma Omega Sorority. Patty loved to bowl and bowled in many leagues over the years. She competed in national bowling championships throughout the country, including New York, St. Louis, and Los Angeles. Patty enjoyed traveling the United States and spending time in the mountains with her family at the Alishouse cabin. In 2013, Patty surprised her granddaughter Ragan Paisley Medeles with a trip to Disneyland. Patty, Nikki and Ragan had a wonderful time and made many magical memories.

Patty loved to garden and work in her yard. She enjoyed crafts, sewing, and creating scrapbooks, for her kids and especially for granddaughter Ragan. Patty was very interested in genealogy and spent hours tracing her family lineage and ancestry back to the American Revolution.

Patty passed away on February 14, 2021. Mourning her death are her husband, Darrel, who shared over a half century of marriage and happiness with her; her son, Nathan and his wife Jodi Adolf of Kansas City, and her daughter, Nikki, her husband Arn and granddaughter Ragan Medeles of Greeley; her mother, Joan Bondhus; her sister, Cindy and brother-in-law, Kevin Hoyer; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Preceding Patty in death were her father, Woodie Bondhus, mother-in-law, Helen Heberlein, brother-in-laws, Dennis Adolf and Charles Smelser.
