Raymond Couch, born July 16, 1947, left this world on August 2, 2025 in the same way he lived in it—surrounded by those who loved him most. Heaven's welcoming committee included his beloved wife, Karen; his son, Doug; his lifelong buddy Walt; and his dear parents Erline and Dwight. Still here, holding his stories and laughter, are his daughters, Wendy and her husband Kevin, Jayme, and Jennifer; his sister, Beverly; and a lively group of grandchildren—Logan, Austin, Bailey, Torey, Kendall, Elliot, Dawson, Wesley, Chandler, Terran, Gus, Delaney, and Luca. His legacy continues with great-grandchildren—Timmy, Macy, Abby, Allison, Harley, Mateo, and Cameron—and more cherished friends than could ever be counted.
Ray and Karen's love story began in the halls of school—he, the class troublemaker; she, the straight-A student. Together, they became the gold standard for lasting love. Their bond was the kind that shaped lives and set an example for everyone lucky enough to witness it. Even in the days after Karen's passing, Ray held fast to the hope of their reunion—an unshakable hope that now brings comfort to all who loved him.
Ray was a loving and fiercely proud dad to Wendy, Doug, and Jayme. He never missed a chance to brag about them. His grandkids and great grandkids brought him endless joy, keeping his smile wide and his heart full. They carry his spirit with them—in their humor, their hugs, and in their hearts.
Much of Ray's life was spent working on the dairy—rising early, working hard, and teaching by example. It was there that he instilled in his children the values of dedication, collecting, and playing hard.
He was also a master tinkerer—able to fix just about anything, especially if it came from a garage sale or had wires sticking out of it. His shop was a museum of odds and ends, filled with gadgets and gizmos that might "come in handy someday." To Ray, they weren't just things—they were possibilities.
But perhaps what defined Ray most was his kindness. He never met a stranger. His smile was contagious, his generosity effortless, and his door always open. Whether you were a neighbor, a visitor, or someone he just met at Wal-Mart, Ray made you feel like family.
Rather than focus on goodbye, Ray's loved ones choose to give thanks for a life filled with laughter, love, and generosity. His memory lives on in every story, every smile, and every heart he touched. His family celebrates those memories—and take comfort knowing he's caught Karen again, just like in high school.
