Roger D. Highland of Lakewood, CO passed away on April 29, 2020 at the age of 78. He was the only son of Kenneth and Aladean Cole of Akron, CO. He is survived by his wife Nora, son Brent, grandson Camron, and daughter Brendi. After growing up in Akron, he moved to Lakewood and worked as a cartographer and draftsman for the USGS and Office of Surface Mining for 35 years until retirement. He then worked for Safeway for 5  years then retired from there. He enjoyed raising many different tropical fish over the years as a side hobby and was also a fan of classic 40s and 50s cars. In his heyday he was an absolute perfectionist at everything he did. There wasn't anything he couldn't build, fix, or create. He was also a very talented landscaper who always kept a well-manicured lawn that was the envy of the neighborhood. He was an extremely dedicated husband and father who always put his family's needs before his own. He taught his children and grandson to be kind and caring, always leading by example. He was an unassuming man with a gentle soul who will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him and loved him. May he finally be at peace.  A private family service will be held at the Akron Cemetery on Tuesday, May 5, 2020.
