Ronald L. Kraich, 91 of Akron, Colorado passed away at the Washington County Nursing Home on January 21, 2024.

Ronald was born on October 9, 1932 in Akron, Colorado to Christopher and Ilah Kraich at the family farm northeast of Akron. He was the fifth of eleven children. On June 28, 1952, Ron married Veda Maxine Ross.  They had four sons Ronald Jr: 1954, Terry: 1956, Mitchell: 1960, and Gilbert: 1963.

Ronald enlisted in the United States Army on December 5th, 1952 and became an Artillery Sergeant.  Ronald was honorably discharged on December 5th 1954. He remained in the Army Reserves until December 5th 1960.

After returning from the military he went to work for Delman Yackle as a carpenter.  He then worked many years for Henry Florian construction. Then Ron started his own business Ron Kraich Construction until his retirement.

He spent many years serving as the Akron Boy Scoutmaster, taking many boys on camp outs and to the Ben Delatour Scout Ranch west of Fort Collins.

After his retirement, he and wife Veda loved to square dance, travel, and spend time with the kids and grandkids. After Veda's passing in July of 2014, he remained active in his own home until January of 2023, when he moved to the Washington County Nursing Home in Akron. He enjoyed his time there as he loved teasing the nurses and giving them a bad time.

One accomplishment he was proud of was when he and members of the congregation built the new Peace Lutheran Church building.

Ron was preceded in death by wife Veda; son Gilbert; parents Christopher and Ilah Kraich; in-laws Harley and Velma Ross; brothers Joseph, Chris De, Edward, Robert, and Delbert; sisters Joyce (Kraich) Krier and Dorothy (Kraich) Wagner; as well as brothers and sisters-in-laws, nephews, and nieces.

Ron is survived by sons Ron Jr. and fiancé Sandy Trimbach, Terry and wife Kathy, and Mitch; seven grandkids; nine great-grandkids; sisters Lois (Kraich) Florian, Carolyn (Kraich) Wagner and husband Delbert; and brother Gordon and wife Cheryl; as well as many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, February 3, 2024 at the Peace Lutheran Church of Akron at 2:00 p.m.  Interment will follow at the Akron Cemetery.  Memorial donations may be made to the Peace Lutheran Church.
