Obituary

Susan Dayle Brotton, 63, died unexpectedly April 21,2020 at her home in Akron. Sue was born February 5, 1957 in Preston, Idaho to Dale and Joyce (Gertson) VanderMeer. Sue married Jim Brotton in November 1978 and to this union they had 2 daughters, Angela and Jamie.

In 1987, Sue took an EMT-Basic Course so she could join the Washington County Ambulance Service under the Supervision of George Townley. She excelled at her position because of her passion for helping people.   In August 1995, Sue decided to further her education by taking the course to become a Paramedic. She graduated in June 1996.  She was so proud of her accomplishment. In 1998, Sue became the Operations Supervisor for the Ambulance Service. This was the first support position offered within the service next to the Director. Sue enjoyed helping and teaching EMT classes in our area and eventually retired from the Ambulance Service.

Sue also worked as a Deputy Coroner for Washington County. She assisted Darrell Brenner on calls throughout the county.

After Sue retired from the county, she took up Photography. She loved going for a drive and stopping on the side of the road to take a picture of her Sunflowers or Windmills and she especially loved capturing Sunsets.  You will find several of her awesome pictures in the homes and businesses of Washington County.  Her family was always excited to see what beautiful picture she framed for them at Christmas time.

Sue adored her 5 Grandchildren.  In the fall, she could be found cheering on her grandsons, Tyler and Erick, playing football for the Otis Bulldogs. She could also be found watching granddaughter, Sheyann, playing Volleyball for the Wray Eagles, and enjoyed going to visit Kiley at CU Colorado Springs. Sue's oldest granddaughter, Jaydan has become an EMT-Basic and is working on becoming a Deputy with Washington County Sheriff's Office. She was proud of both Kiley and Jaydan for pursuing their dreams.

Sue was an amazing woman who would help anyone who was in need. But most importantly, she was a wonderful Mom, Grandma, and Friend. She has touched many lives and will be greatly missed.
