It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Tony R. Thompson, of Windsor, CO on February 19, 2024, at the age of 66. Tony left us peacefully at his home, surrounded by the memories of a life richly lived.
Born in Haxtun, CO on September 3, 1957, to Bob and Shirley Thompson, Tony was a person of exceptional warmth, charisma, and sense of humor. Throughout his life, Tony forged paths where there were none, touched lives in ways that were profound and lasting, and brought joy and laughter to all who knew him.
Tony dedicated 21 years of his life to the United States Navy, a testament to his unwavering patriotism and strength of character. Throughout his naval career, Tony exemplified the virtues of honor, courage, and commitment. His leadership and mentorship left a lasting impact on those he served with, earning him the respect and admiration of his peers and subordinates alike. Tony's stories of life at sea and the camaraderie he found in the Navy were among his most cherished memories. After retiring from the service, Tony fulfilled a full second career as a civilian before retiring fully in 2016.
Outside of his service and work, Tony's love for golf, fishing, and all things that brought him outdoors was evident to all who knew him. He taught those around him all of the skills and joy that he developed in his passions. He happily spent his retired years playing as much golf as possible.
Beyond his accomplishments, Tony was a dedicated husband and a loving father. His family was the cornerstone of his life, and he was the cornerstone of theirs. He cherished every moment spent with them. Tony's guidance, wisdom, and humor will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Tony is survived by his devoted wife of 35 years Georgia Thompson, their son Robert and his wife Andrea, his daughter Krystle and her husband Andrew, and their child Emma.
As we say goodbye to Tony, we also celebrate the remarkable life he led and the countless ways he enriched our lives. His legacy of kindness, laughter, and love will forever remain in our hearts.
"May his memory be a blessing."
