Obituary

Travis James Carman or TJ as he was most commonly known was born November 26, 1979 in Brush, CO, and passed away on February 16, 2021, the result of an avalanche while snowmobiling in the mountains in Jackson County, Colorado.  TJ was preceded in death by his grandparents Cliff and Clydie Travis and grandmother Shirley Carman.  TJ is survived by his children, daughter Adalyn Carman and son Gavin Carman of Berthoud, mother Jody Carman of Akron,  father Alan and step-mom Debbie Carman of Limon, sister Jennie Bowin and her husband Dallas of Akron, brother Garrett Carman of Anton, brother Randall and wife Kristi Smith of Lebo KS, brother Gary and wife Dianne of Bushong, KS, nephews Bridger Reese of Hillrose, Carson Reese of Sterling, and Breckin Bowin of Akron, and niece Landrie Reese of Akron.

TJ attended Arickaree Grade School when living in Anton, later graduating from Akron High School in 1998. TJ earned his associates from NJC in Sterling and then went on to attend CSU where he earned his bachelors of Agronomy Science.   While attending  CSU he received the FFA American Degree.  TJ went on to get his pilot's license that allowed him to "check fields" but really became another way for him to mess with people by giving them a quick buzz as he flew over.

TJ had a love of farming from an early age, even taking his first and probably smallest load of wheat to the Anton Co-op in his little red wagon.  Farming gave TJ some freedom in the winter months that allowed him to enjoy winter recreation, and some laid-back time with friends and family and many sporting events in support of his kids, niece, and nephews.  In the spring and summer months, TJ would begin sending messages and videos, sometimes inappropriate, while working from his sprayer keeping in contact with those he cared about.  Summer months were busier but he still found time for the lake, camping, and other activities with his kids.  TJ lived for the weekends with his kids and often said they were the best thing to ever happen to him.  He was hands-on Dad very involved and connected with his children and always finding something fun to do with them during their time together.

TJ brought smiles and laughter into every room, and everyone he touched with his happy-go-lucky nature.  He had a zest for life and lived it at full-speed.  He surrounded himself with good people and always found a way to connect with someone when speaking with them making friends wherever he went.  His love for music was evident when he rolled up with the windows down…blaring a new favorite song, or in a quiet room when he casually began to play his playlist of favorites, or took over a tv remote to look up his favorites on youtube.  Anyone who met TJ was blessed and he will be missed immensely by all who knew him.

A funeral service will be held Monday, February 22, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at the Akron Cemetery Gazebo.  Interment will follow at the Akron Cemetery.  Memorial donations may be made to his children.  Checks should be made to "Edward Jones" 114 N 4th St.  Sterling, CO  80751.
