Obituary

Waldo Wilkie Thompson (Wally) was born August 2 nd 1940 at home in Deer Trail Colorado to Omar and Elsie Thompson. He went home to be with his heavenly father on Saturday November 30 th , at the age of 79. He was the fourth of four children. Wally and his family moved to a farm in Ft. Morgan where he graduated from high school in 1959. During high school he started cutting meat at the local grocery store. After completing high school his dad told him "The farm is not big enough for both of us and I was here first."

Wally met Marlene, the first love of his life while attending the Brush Baptist Church. Wally and Marlene fell in love and were married on February 26, 1960 at the First Baptist Church in Brush CO.  Waldo led the singing while Marlene played the piano. Wally's passion for music in the church never stopped as he and Marlene led the singing in their church for 30 years.

Wally was very independent and loved a challenge. This drive motivated him into many different business opportunities. Some of these opportunities included; custom meat processing plants and family restaurants in Otis, Akron and Kirk. Wally loved the challenge of taking a struggling business and making it grow.

Even with the demands of the business his love for his wife and children led them to raise a large family.

The most rewarding to Wally was his love for his Lord, his church, and music. On many occasions his family and others would surround him and sing while Marlene played the piano. One of Wally's favorite hymns was "The Lighthouse." Wally was known for his many sayings packed full of wisdom. He spent time pouring his life and wisdom into others.

Wally had a love for people and loved companionship of others. Three years after Marlene's passing God led Sandy Morgan and Wally to each other, as they were both praying for direction and someone to share their love.  Wally and Sandy fell in love and were married on

November 25, 2018 at the First Baptist Church in Akron. Wally and Sandy lived at their home in Otis.
