Warren Carlyle Severin passed away suddenly Thursday, December 3 rd in his home surrounded by his family.
He is preceded in death by his mother Billie Mae and sisters Christine and Shari. He left behind his father, Pete Severin, wife Cheryle, daughter Paige and husband Colin, daughter Blair, partner John and grandson Corey, stepson Stacy, grandson Derand and granddaughter Kaylie and great-grandson Daniel, brother Dick, sister Barbara and husband Lanny, sister-in-law Wilma, uncles Dean and Harold, aunts Edith and Emma and a much loved family of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins.
Warren was born February 23 rd , 1948 at the Akron Hospital to Richard (Pete) and Billie Mae Kincheloe Severin. He joined siblings Barbara and Dick and would welcome Christine and Shari in the next few years. The family built a home on Fourth Street that Warren still owns. He attended Akron Grade School and High School, graduating with the class of 1966. He had many accomplishments and awards in his school days playing football, basketball and track and field (especially pole vault). He always counted his best accomplishment as the lifelong friendships he made there.
Warren attended UNC where his favorite study was (believe it or not) Anthropology, but came back to Akron to work with his Uncle Ralph at Goodman Grain and Seed for the next 20 years. His passion was always golf and he played very well and as often as possible. He loved the game enough to take the job of course superintendent at Washington County Golf Course for the next 20 years. He was also active in the community: a long time member of the Akron Volunteer Fire Department, charter member of the Akron Elks Lodge and lifelong member of the Akron Methodist Church and choir. He loved singing and music.
Warren married Cheryle Frink August 20, 1982, and they celebrated the day for 38 years. They had two daughters, Paige and Blair, whom he loved and cherished.
In spite of a fear of flying, Warren traveled with Cheryle all over the US and the world. Warren made friends everywhere he went. And played golf nearly everywhere he went. There's not enough room in this obituary to put it all down, we would need a book.
Recently moving to a log cabin in Rosita Colorado, Warren bombarded family and friends with texts and posts of wildlife and mountains and how much he no longer had to put up with traffic and noise. Again he gathered friends.
Warren will be greatly missed by all he loved and who loved him in turn.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at 1:00 pm at the Washington County Golf Club. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
