Wilma Ann Frink was born November 8, 1937 to parents Harold Cleland Frink, Sr. and Genevieve Bussart Frink. The family moved to Barnard, Kansas and soon after welcomed brother Harold Jr. in 1940. Wilma started school and attended kindergarten in Barnard.
Wilma lost her mother in a house fire in 1942 while her father was serving in World War II. She moved to Salina, Kansas where she lived with her mother's parents until 1951. Wilma, father, stepmother and brother Jr moved to Minneapolis, Kansas and welcomed Cheryle Lynn in 1955. Cherrie's arrival started a lifelong habit of spoiling kids. Wilma graduated from Minneapolis High School in 1956.
After high school, she went to visit family in Paonia, Colorado and first met her future husband Bob McHugh. She wasn't impressed.
After returning home to Minneapolis, she joined the Marines and finished boot camp in Paris Island, South Carolina where she was stationed for the rest of her tour processing new recruits and transport papers. She was on the USMC Women's Softball team and on the Rifle team where she excelled. She was awarded an Expert Rifleman medal for excellent marksmanship. She loved her time there, had many friends, and great stories to tell.
She met and married Alex Grosser March 10, 1960 in Beuford, South Carolina. The couple moved to Norwich, Connecticut and welcomed son Jason Paul in 1960.
Wilma moved to Paonia to live near her Dad after the divorce. She reconnected with Bob McHugh. More impressed.
After the death of her stepmother in 1966 she moved to Omaha, Nebraska to be near family. In October of this year she welcomed daughter Roberta Lynn. She worked at a chicken factory and gathered and graded eggs.
She moved to Akron, Colorado in 1972 where she worked as a cook and waitress at the Norka Restaurant for 15 years.
Bobbi graduated from Akron High School in 1985 and in 1987, Wilma moved back to Paonia to be a caretaker for an old friend. Bob was still there. More impressed.
Bob was a lineman working storm breaks and she traveled with him. The couple lived in Portland Oregon, Grand Junction, Colorado and Fernley, Nevada. Finally impressed enough to say, Yes, the couple eloped in 1997.
After much "whining" and persuasion, from Bobbi, Wilma and Bob moved the Akron.
She spent the rest of her life loving and spoiling her grandkids, great-grandkids, other people's children and grandchildren, sharing laughter and friendship with one and all. She especially enjoyed supporting her grandchildren in all of their sports activities, working at Odell's Super, going out to eat, having coffee, introducing coffee to all the new babies in the family, and visiting with as many people as possible. Hardship and struggle were left in the past- laughter and antidotes, helping hands and hugs, love shared with anyone and everyone.
She was preceded in death by husband, Robert McHugh; parents Harold and Genevieve Frink, and stepmother Alberta Frink; brother Harold Frink Jr and sister-in-law Catherine Frink. She is survived by son Jason and daughter Bobbi and husband Brian, sister Cheryle, grandchildren: Jon and wife Lucy, Jace and Chris Grosser, Frank and wife Kayla, Reed, Karli and Lindsey Christensen and eight great-grandchildren, and a congregation of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews and friends.
